Product Care

Protect your custom furniture from direct sunlight, UV exposure, humidity, and daily wear so the wood, leather, fabric, copper, and handmade finishes can age beautifully for generations.

Protect your furniture from direct sunlight

Sunlight is one of the most common causes of premature aging in fine furniture. UVA and UVB rays can pass through windows and affect solid wood, leather, fabric, painted finishes, stains, and hand-applied details. Over time, direct sunlight may fade upholstery, change the tone of wood, dry natural materials, and reduce the original depth and richness of the finish.

Use curtains, blinds, and window coverings

We strongly recommend placing custom furniture away from long periods of direct sun exposure whenever possible. Blinds, shades, draperies, curtains, and UV-filtering window films help reduce the amount of light that reaches the furniture. This is especially important in rooms with large windows, western exposure, glass doors, skylights, or areas where sunlight lands directly on the same piece every day.

How UV rays affect wood and finishes

Depending on the wood species and finish, UV exposure may lighten or darken the surface and create an uneven, prematurely aged appearance. Excessive sunlight and heat can also contribute to dryness, movement, shrinkage, splitting, or cracking. Our solid wood furniture is built for strength, but natural wood still responds to its environment and should be protected from extreme exposure.

Leather and fabric upholstery care

Leather and fabric are also sensitive to sunlight. Direct UV exposure can fade color, dry leather, weaken fibers, and reduce the useful life of upholstery. To preserve comfort, color, and texture, avoid placing upholstered pieces where direct sunlight hits the same seat, back, or armrest for extended periods. Rotate cushions when applicable and clean materials only with products recommended for fine upholstery.

Built by hand, cared for with intention

Jorge Kurczyn furniture is handcrafted with solid organic timber, premium upholstery materials, forged iron, copper accents, and custom finishes. The wood goes through a careful preparation process before becoming furniture, and each piece is made to serve for generations. Our lifetime craftsmanship guarantee does not cover damage caused by direct UVA or UVB exposure, extreme heat, humidity, misuse, or lack of proper care.

A simple care routine

Keep your furniture out of direct sunlight, use proper window coverings, dust with a soft dry cloth, avoid harsh chemicals, clean spills quickly, and maintain stable indoor humidity whenever possible. With proper care and minimal UV exposure, your custom furniture will keep its beauty, structure, and character for many years.
